Overview

Instantly recognisable in their silver armour and red cloaks, The Governor of Merir Neadair’s personal guard strike a fearsome sight.
This group of imposing fighters came with the current Governor, when he took the position 5 years previously. Formally crew members aboard his skyship, he gathered from a multitude of locations during his extensive travels. This gives them a strange assortment of skills and origins. Someone can quickly spot them in a crowd, however that’s usually because of the wide space the public will give them.
Since becoming the Governor’s honour guard, the group has unified their dress code. Before they were in the loose and comfortable cloth clothes of a sky pirate, but now they look more like a unit of soldiers ready for battle. Wearing shining silver scale mail, with golden filigree tooling over it combined with blood red cloaks. He also requires them to wear helmets with full face plates always down.
The Governor enjoys the fear that sight of his guard strikes into the hearts of the largely disorganised pirate rabble that frequent his settlement. He maintains it’s good for them to not relax too much and be at their ease, trouble can strike anytime.

Deployment

While in public on visible duty, the Governor requires them to wear their uniforms but is largely a ploy. If they are very obvious when they are present, people don’t seem to realise they can still be around when you can’t see the uniforms. At any given time, ten out of the thirty or so members are guarding him, the rest are patrolling visibly in uniform, off duty or in plain clothes, listening in and making sure things are still running correctly.
This has allowed him a network of people he can trust bringing him information. While he still maintains networks of spies and informants, he trusts these guards of his completely. At least as completely as someone in power can.
