  • First appearance:
  • Jugo is the 'first' character we meet, and he is kinda the main protagonist. He starts off by living his normal life in his home village, taking care of the farms and other duties. We learn a but about how evolution works with plants and how they keep them from evolving into something dangerous/useless. Jugo and dad are working together to harvest and store the crops. Then after they finish, Jugo's dad complains about how his back hurts and Jugo tells him he's not that old. But his dad says he is, just that he doesn't look like it. (funny, heartwarming stuff). Then, they return home and eat a meal. That is when Jugo says, "you know, I've been thinking about it, and I want to do something big." His father asks what, and Jugo says, "I want to go out and travel the world." His father at first doesn't react, and starts coughing and choking, Jugo reacts with much fear and panic, only for his father to reveal he was just joking. His father laughs but Jugo smacks him on the back and sends him lurching forward into the wall, breaking it slightly. Then they both start laughing, then his dad says, "careful, let me remind you that I'm an old man" to which Jugo replies, "no you're not, you're only 203". Jugo's father says, "don't remind me... wait I just reminded you of that!" and they have another laugh. Finally, they get to the juicy stuff. His father sits down and asks what brought about this idea of leaving the village to travel? Jugo responds, "Well, I'm only getting older as time passes, and I have always wanted to explore, meet new people, and see the world. Everything this world has to offer, I want to see it all." His father sees the glimmer in his son's eyes and sighs, "Your mother had that same glimmer in her eyes... neither she nor I could be *prouder* of you, Jugo."   Jugo's father has a brother, who lives very far way, he tells Jugo to stop by on his way and pick up a translation item that is better then the one he has. Jugo's ancestors were nomads/travelers who used to travel a lot but eventually settled down here to start a farming life. In birth Jugo's father and brother were each given one their parent's translation items, Jugo's father was given the 'better' one and his brother given the other. However when Jugo's father decided to stay and his brother wanted to keep traveling, they swapped items and said farewell. The family didn't take that too well, as they settled down to build a village, and they felt Jugo's uncle was abandoning them and all their hard work, but Jugo's dad is the only one who felt sympathy for him, as he too yearned for something more, but wasn't willing to leave his family. In fact, Jugo's mother was a traveler, who fell in love with his father (and vice versa), she liked a man who put other people's feelings above himself, and he liked things that were new and interesting. Jugo's mother often told Jugo of stories from her travels, and showed him the beauty of the world. Jugo's father felt sadness when he realised he's become to old and can't leave (because he is leader of village due to considering others) and just isn't fit to travel. But now that the opportunity arrived in Jugo, he believes it almost to be fated that Jugo becomes a traveler. His ancestry, his family, his ability, his passion.

Warning, the following contains major spoilers, things that I messily came up with (which are subject to change completely), and it's incredibly confusing.

    You have been warned...

    Show spoiler
Jugo's father had a passive ability which allowed him to regenerate very quickly at the cost of reducing his lifespan.   Jugo also loves fruit juice (in Spanish is Juice)   Jugo and his father have dyslexia.   Jugo was told several times that he either smelled, looked unpleasant, and bad clothes, messy hair, etc, etc. And at first, he laughed it off or told them off. But then as his likes for Juze started to grow he began to change and tried to do his hair, shower more often, dresses nicely, etc, etc.   He will discuss with Juze about their relationship and how she thinks he should improve on certain things. He thinks he doesn't have any flaws and even then they don't need fixing. It's unfair of her to ask him that as she herself isn't perfect, right? Says he doesn't want to talk about it.   Jugo will learn to use daggers but then he will switch to a sword (maybe use both?) He will be told that his fighting still is one where he makes big heavy swings and that isn't compatible with daggers. But when it is desperate close combat he might use daggers or use them as long-range throwing knives?   Jugo has an ability that allows him to control the density of his body and things around him in a very small radius. For example, making his fists really dense to punch through something (or someone to kill 'em) or changing the density of an enemy he is about to punch to send them flying. At first, he can't control his own body's density all that well, and he has focused on changing other thing's density. (since he is a farm boy and does the heavy lifting, it is a good idea to make things less dense and less heavy than making himself denser). He also discovers that making himself denser has secondary effects. But mainly he doesn't do that in a fight cuz he could kill someone with that. But then shifts to not caring and just doing what he needs to win.   With the money earned/rewarded by the king for defeating emotion changer, the groupmates of Jugo give him most the money because they don't want him to suffer/punish himself, tho they know he will. At first Jugo doesn't take the money, but he is told that it isn't just for him, that they would feel guilty not doing so. So he takes it and with it pays a group of mercenaries to help him track down the emotion changer and kill him. (Capture him so Jugo can slowly kill him and hopefully feel better after he's dead, he has to try and get rid of that agonizing feeling in his heart, like a hole is in it.)   The scene where Juze dies will play out kinda like this: The surrounding cityscape is destroyed. Jugo is chasing the emotion changer when he calls to his pet and it slams Jugo into the ground. He only saw him at the last second but couldn't dodge him, it's too fast. (it got done fighting Juze, she was beaten). Then, he got up, blocked another of his punches, and threw him aside. [more fighting]. Jugo is getting tired and desperate (turns out that thing can regenerate pretty quickly]. Juze wakes up and sees them fighting. She sees Jugo all bloodied up and exhausted. Then she limps to try to help him but he says he can handle it himself. Jugo is hit again badly. She manages to heal him up a bit. Then Jugo goes to fight the emotion changer cuz he thinks Juze can handle the pet. He is quickly proven wrong, as it appears Juze has taken much more damage than he has. He sees emotion changer escaping and he says "time to leave, finish your job quickly." and Jugo lunges towards the emotion changer forgetting about Juze and he almost reaches him. The guy looks terrified but then the creature appears behind Jugo and smashes him again. This time Jugo does not get up. And so the creature does it's finishing move in which it takes out its spikes from its hand and just as it is about to impale Jugo, Juze comes and smashes the creature away. Jugo is in a daze and can barely tell what's going on. Juze is fighting a losing battle and she screams out to Jugo. He sort of snaps out of it and gives a big punch to the pet to send it flying and crashing into a building. Then he turns around to see emotion changer messing with Juze. She seems to be in a trance. He says he will kill her if he doesn't surrender. Jugo at this point is beyond exhausted. He says not to touch her, or he will kill her and he just laughs. "Like you could do anything to stop me." He then just says that this all could have been avoided if they hadn't interfered with his plans. But then the pet rises from the ruins and goes in for the kill. Jugo doesn't have the energy to turn around, so he says, "if I die, don't hurt her. Maybe you can make this moment a happy one in her head? Don't let her remember this, I don't want her to be sad." And the emotion changer says, "fine then, I'll make sure of it. Maybe in another life, we could have been friends." Jugo responds, "who knows." and then the creature swings at Jugo. But Juze wakes up and takes Jugo aside, taking the full-blown hit straight to the left side of her body, destroying it. Everyone is shocked. And the emotion changer just yells "What did you do?!? You idiot!" but Jugo can't do anything but stare in shock. Then it really hits him. He tries to get near her, but the creature nearly attacks Jugo. The emotion changer tells the pet to stop, and then it's hand gets chopped off by Jugo's friends. They are screaming Jugo, what are you doing! Move! but then they see Juze's body. At that point emotion changer just runs, and gets away with it because everyone is so focused on Juze. One guy is like he's getting away, and then he realizes Juze. Then he's like why isn't anyone helping her? He is told that nothing can save her, she's dead. He decides to chase after him, but no one else comes. Then Jugo drops to his knees next to her, refusing it is all happening. He can't bring himself to look at her. His eyes are staring with horror at something so distant. He hears her talk. "Jugo." He glanced down at her, just for a split second and his eyes widen with nothing but absolute agony. He brings his vision up, not looking down at her. (the camera shot is only looking at Jugo's face, not her body) There is a moment of silence. Everything fades away. Jugo's tears start pouring. He hugs her body. And he lifts his hand to see the blood on his hands. He hears her whispers, but not clearly. (Flashback later: What she really says "Keep going... I love you Jugo"). Jugo just says I love you. And she stops breathing, her body grows cold, and she passes on. Nothing is to be said. Nothing is to be done. Suddenly Jugo cries out. He jumps away from her and desperately runs towards the direction the emotion changer went. The ground beneath him is shifting and crushing and levitating. He nearly burrows himself into the ground. His friends are trying to stop him, but he can't hear them, he can't even register he's there. He sees the pet things fighting the guy who went after them, and he grows silent. Then howls in rage and flys at the creature, stabbing it through the chest. (is this moment done in complete silence?) Then, Jugo calmly rips it in two. Blood pours out of it but nothing except Jugo's hand his covered in the creature's blood. Only a small drop of its blood lands on Jugo's head. This is nothing compared to the amount of Juze's blood that covers Jugo. He is drowsed in blood. Dripping it. And we get to see that Jugo looks dead-eyed. He collapses on the ground shortly afterward. He wakes up the next morning... He doesn't remember that when they took him away he was telling them not to take him away from her and that he was screaming I'm sorry. He was told he did this. But he doesn't seem to care. He seems like nothing else is really there.   Jugo's recklessness is partly his personality but also was because he wants to protect the people he cares about even if it means putting himself head first in danger. It started in his childhood and manifested in a more noticeable way when he saw one of his friends killed for not willing to put himself in danger to save him. He felt guilty and learned to help other even when it's dangerous. As he learns this people tell him not to, but he does it and every time he gets more and more reckless. It starts to devolve when he begins to believe that he can't really get hurt, since he escaped death so many times. That's why he then starts to believe that people can take care of themselves just like he can, and he can do anything on his own. When Jugo was told by the seers that he was a part of a much bigger destiny, a seed was planted in the back of his mind. With several other events that occurred this idea grew bigger and bigger until he believed he was destined for greatness, and nothing would get in his way. He joked about being a hero of a divine god sent to do it's bidding. That he could do no wrong.   When leaving for his adventure at the beginning of the series, Jugo was given leather armor crafted by the people of his village as they had the cattle, knowledge, and resources to do so. Later on however, as he discovered that his ability allowed him to harden his skin to use as armor itself, he decided he didn't need armor. (Did he change his mind later on?)   When Jugo defeats the Emotion changer he is recognized by many and becomes pretty famous. The travelers the king wants are taken from those just entering the kingdom for the first time and are escorted secretly to the king's palace to be asked whether they want to join or not. If they refuse they will be given a nice place to stay or otherwise by force. It's safety precautions to prevent the enemy from gaining as much intel or allies as possible. Since many travelers know about the mission or are part of it, they know Jugo and co were a big part in taking down Emotion changer and earned a big reward (was it bull?). So many strong travelers want to join his party cuz his fame and rumored strength, which then Jugo has to live up to keep their respect   Jugo's story is one in which he is aggressive, both with his ideals and actions, but learns how to be more assertive. At the beginning, he solves a lot of his problems with his stubbornness and jizz, but quickly it brings him problems too. He gets into fights and brings about conflict easily. As he grow he becomes less aggressive, until Juze's death. Later he decides to finally be assertive, and not just less aggressive. This is his redemption arc and will be close to his ending.   When Jugo was in rage mode he was stabbed and sliced many times, most attacks didn't do much, as he can harden his skin, but he was stabbed enough that blood poured from the side of his face and all on one side of his body. It completely immobilized him at first, but when he saw his own blood and was reminded of Juze's body he went absolute berserk.
