Kubiz
“Three days and three nights I walked through the desert with my caravan. On the fourth day, I beheld a glorious sight I thought was a hallucination: that pearl of a city, Kubiz. I shall never see its like again." –Omasi al-Raq, Alagaddan merchant
Structure
While Kubiz is effectively a dictatorship under the Emir, it is a benevolent one, and local sheiks have great influence in court.
Culture
The people of Kubiz are among the wealthiest in the world, and it is reflected in their city. Kubiz is known for its extraordinary architecture. Its white buildings and giant towers – some of the world’s largest – are the stuff of legends. Kubizi towers, churches, and government buildings are decorated ornately with awnings of gold and lapis lazuli, boast large onion domes, and almost every building is made with bright white stone. Despite their extraordinary wealth and architecture, the people of Kubiz do not flaunt their wealth. They are, however, extremely focused on business matters, and very shrewd in their negotiations. The people of Kubiz want for nothing, as the Emir of Kubiz provides food, education, and other social services at the state’s expense.
Territories
Climate: Arid
Military
Kubiz relies on the Alagaddan military for protection, though there are some local guards who act as police and bodyguards for people of import.
Religion
The people of Kubiz are not as religious as their Alagaddan counterparts, being far more wary of djinn and other spirits, but there are some impressive churches used for general worship and offerings to the gods.
Foreign Relations
The only relation Kubiz maintains with the outside world is with Alagadda, who offers its military protection to Kubiz in exchange for loyalty and payment. Kubiz fails to maintain contact with other nations not only due to its policy of isolation, but because it is extremely hard to reach, both by sea and by land.
Trade & Transport
Kubiz is a rich land full of wealthy traders and natural resources.
