Political Influence & Intrigue
In the past Catholicism was very influential to the point of Pope Darius II being able to overthrow the last Romasian Emperor in 409 and establishing the Papal Empire.
Even long after the fall of the Papal Empire Catholicism and papacy influenced politics in the whole former Romasian Empire.
The coronation of Pope Darius XIII in 1620 was the zenith of Catholic might, in the following hundred years the power of the Catholic rulers (such as the pope, bishops, priests and abbots) waned.
Catholicism remained a powerful and influencial structure in all of the Eastern World until the 1950s and 1970s.
Today it remains the biggest and most influencial religion worldwide, altough it's not as powerful as hundred years ago.
Sects
The biggest sect is the famous "Order of the Two Jesuses", founded in 1981.
They believe God has sent yet another Jesus-like person to earth: their leader, Jesus Daaän.
This sect organised raids against remote Christian villages, killing everyone not willing to convert.
In 2003 the sect staged a failed coup against the Kawandan government, resulting in the pope declaring the sect heresy.
In 2003, at the height of their power, the sect had almost 10 million worshippers. By 2015 only 7 million remain.
