The Age of Experimentation

Era beginning/end

1121

Fueled by magical experimentation and their collected hatred of the savages their kin had become, the elves thought to create new allies that would help defend their grove.

A few short years after the Oru'kai rebellion, the elves had made huge strides in their control over magic. They began mixing spells with the water of the lake and allowing the local birds to drink of it, imbueing them with magical traits that could be studied and put to use. The first experiments were not quite successful, and the Kenku race was born. Due to their sudden transformation however, they had lost the ability to fly, though they were gifted magic users, and rivaled the intellect of the elves in a few generations. The Kenku helped hone the spells used on them, and helped the elves create another avian race. The Arakokra, were born. Unlike their predecessor, the arakokra retained their wings, and as such, the ability to fly.  They became the great protectors of the skies, and rooster in the peaks of the surrounding mountains.    Some of the elves preferred to focus their efforts on the flora, and soon the white stone city was surrounded by flourishing plant life. Even some of the trees began walking around the forest, becoming rapidly more sentient over just a few short years of experimentation.  These creatures often hold no allegiance to the elves whatsoever, maintaining their ties to the forest. (Treants)   Still others thought to make allies with the angry clawed beasts in the forest, trapping and taming them. While these jungle cats were fierce, the elves, seeking to mold their world to their taste, were not satisfied. The tabaxi race was born some years later. They are loyal to the elves, but as a whole, they remain elusive. Keeping to the dense forested areas, or among the canopy high above.    In the centuries following the rebellion, countless creatures, breeds, and sentient races began growing and thriving all throughout the grove.
