The Artossan Conflict

The Artossan Conflict, or the Draken/Artossan war was a major event which affected the lives of many characters.

The Conflict

Prelude

During the Eastern continents long history, many minor conflicts and border skirmishes have occurred between Artossa and Drakr. These resulted in Artossa being annexed to a region in the East of the region. An uneasy peace had been achieved until 1901.

Deployment

The true cause of the war was a black-ops mission carried out by a specialised squadron of Draken soldiers. Under orders to eliminate suspected terrorists, the soldiers stormed a sacred temple in the dead of the night and killed all they found. The morning following the attack, the outraged Artossan's began to riot, and taking full advantage of the situation, Premier Voseneskya ordered her troops to be sent in to bring the rioters under control. The situation only worsened and the war soon broke out in full force.

Battlefield

The Draken military outnumbers the Artossans by far, but they were able to keep the conflict going due to a steady supply of munitions from Songhi, which aided them in order to weaken Draken's border for their own gaze. thanks to their new weapons and skill at guerilla warfare, the Artossans managed to stalemate the Draken military forces.  In response, State Theurgists were sent into the front lines to act as human weapons. This decision decisively and horrifically ended the war. The territory of Artossa being occupied by Draken soldiers and surviving Artossan's spread throughout the country as refugees.

Outcome

As a result of the wholesale devastation unleashed on their holy land, many Artossans were killed and the survivors were driven from their home. The entire eastern area of Draken was also turned into a warzone. Pekkola was bombed, causing its growth to be perpetually stunted. However the toll the war took on Drakr was more mental and emotional, rather than physical.

Aftermath

In the aftermath, many State Theurgists relinquished their certification due to deep regrets for their actions. This war gave a note of infamy for these theurgists for their horrific part in the 'unjust war.'
