Drakr

Drakr is a nation bordered by Songhi to the north and Artossa to the south. The Draken colours are blue and gold. Drakr’s desire for improvement became the lash that drives industry, science and commerce and all their accompanying evils. The religion of the old gods has been replaced by the church of the Ascended One. This new age has been called by some as ‘The Cruel Age.’

Culture

Drakens are practical folk, used to war and hardship. They are also a superstitious population.

Public Agenda

The Premier has given more freedom and opportunities to women in the military and beyond. Drakr promotes itself as a thoroughly modern and progressive country.

History

A large country surrounded by stronger superpowers. For years Drakr was divided by warlords with constant infighting between the clans. The only unifying thread was the royal family whom all the warlords were to answer to. But the King was only that in name, his power was weak and the clan leaders challenged or ignored him without much repercussions. When the Premier took over in the coup of [18 something] she reunited the clans and created a unified culture; erasing individual traditions, languages, religions and differences.

Demography and Population

The population of Drakr is mainly comprised of native Drakens. Many Artossans now live throughout Draken since the Artossan Conflict. They have been historically mistreated by the Draken majority government.

Territories

Drakr has assimilated Artossa into its territory after their victory in the Artossan conflict.

Military

Drakr is protected primarily by regular soldiers. Since the Premier took power, the military has been the country's primary focus and has cemented its power over every aspect of Draken life. The military administration is based in Drachma in the hollowed out remains of the former royal palace. The infantry is the main branch of the army. They are supported by artillery, tanks, along with their most important and prominent weapons: the State Theurgists. The division of State Theurgists is parallel to the normal ranks of the army. They are automatically assigned to the rank of major upon recruitment. They have their own titles and undergo different treatment and supervision from other military personnel.

Technological Level

Just out of the twentieth century's first decade, Drakr has recently undergone an industrial revolution, with steam engines and automobiles beginning to overtake horse-drawn carriages as the most prominent mode of transportation. Though industrialization, the market economy, mass production and the formation of the modern nation state would improve life for many, these advancements just as often led to new horrors. Urban poverty, new diseases, human rights violations and war.

Agriculture & Industry

Typical jobs are shopkeepers, farmers etc. Drakr’s main exports are coal, since it is a mountainous country, and as such there are many mining towns near the border with Songhi. The most common crops are potatoes and wheat, the livestock are cows and sheep.

Legislative Body
Its authoritarian regime makes it hard to distinguish between regular government institutions and the military, but that domain is constantly questioned and confronted by the general population, which is rarely friendly and even belligerent towards the military regime.
Executive Body
The regional offices of the government are directly subordinated to the Central Command and have little freedom of action. However, politics are very common among the leaders of each region within their own level of hierarchy, bringing a lot of competition between regions.
