Morlan

A cold-temperate marsh region in the southwest of Baelthir, home to the followers of Silithix.

The region was recently colonized by Barethonians who have built a massive railroad from the Barethonian heartlands to the Coastal city of Dunstad. The expansion is confined to settlements and military outposts along the railroad due to the impenetrability of the swamplands beyond the tracks.
The native inhabitants still live in their isolated marsh settlements, keeping to their mysterious pagan customs. Not all of Morlans inhabitants are humanoid however, with races of sentient creatures called the Children of Silithix who have an amphibious and fishlike appearance and are revered by the pagan population.
The pagan population that came in direct contact with Barethonian inquisition had to convert to Leothar worship. Although unlike the previous campaigns, the Morlan campaign was the first one to implement the inquisition through words and not solely through lead and steel, spearheaded by the missionary branch of the Theocracy. It is because of this practice that the current ruling Duke of Dunstad and many wealthier actors in the region are converted ex-pagan chieftains. Seemingly a success since Dunstad quickly became the second most productive city of the Theocracy.

Geography

It has a cold-temperate climate with frequent rainfall and strong winds. The lands are mostly inhospitable watery marshes. Reed patches scattered about with some islets, large waterlilies and dirt mounds dotting the landscape. The northernmost regions consist of more densely vegetated landscapes with mucky ground surfaces known to swallow up the unfortunate traveler.
