World's Spine

A large, jutting tower composed of necrotic, rock hard flesh. The thing stretches from 300ft above the sea all the way to it's bottom at 12'000ft below sea level. It is coiled, somewhat hollow, open at the top much like a straw, and hosts seemingly millions of small and tiny blobish insectile creatures, which prey on each other in some strange contained biome. It is tapered as well, growing thinner the higher up you get due to erosion, rot, and consumption by its inhabitants. At its base, it measures in with a diameter of approximately 1300ft.
The tower is rarely explored, as it is several miles north of the Ruby Island coastline, and accessibility to it is nearly impossible to gain. In the efforts of studying it, however, many scholars have expressed their want to have a dock set up alongside an entrance drilled into the side of the monolith, so that access to it may be easier to obtain.
There are no theories surrounding the tower's existence that can be reasonably justified. The purpose of its existence is unknown as well. The few folks that claim to have explored it had to turn back after being either stopped by a hazard, or running out of supplies before they fully descended the construct; if they are to be believed, the structure reaches far below the bottom of the sea.
