A colossal pillar of coiled flesh stands to rot in the middle of an ocean; its walls ooze with blood from the unholy creatures burrowing in its walls. They chitter as the first men in years walk down the pillar, staving the beasts off with the flicker of torchlight.   A druid finishes carving a replica of the sigil on his chest onto a poor, suffering rabbit, and it's family. As the other mages hold out their foci and begin drawing sigils, they each grow and burgeon a piece of the rabbit using the magical knowledge gained from a lifetime of study. In moments, the creature is the size of a man and burdened now by sapience and serfdom.   A child bawls in horror as a grey-red mottled sphere of oozing glass siphons a black gas from him, before quickly darting to absorb it with its form. In short order, the boy calms down, as he feels almost incapable of fear anymore. The sphere blinks to a translucent white, before dropping to the ground and melting like ice.   The world of Sem is one filled with body horror, cosmic weirdness, and many odd creatures. The world is strange, but not cruel, and it's inhabitants vary wildly in their culture, appearance, and development; elves are kept ignorant of the world outside of their nation; halflings are socially conscious and multicultural; and beastfolk (called "Amalgams") value the betterment of their species through selective breeding...   Though, the races typical to fantasy are not the only ones which exist within the world; logic-bending creatures named "Entities" struggle to survive in a world formed by humanoid creatures. Entities are generally hunted by those called "Seekers" who typically wish to kill, save, or learn from the creatures. Grand organizations and guilds have come forth to generate Seekers, as new Entities are discovered day-to-day, and while many simply avoid civilization, there are some creatures which hold nothing but an alien form of boiling resentment for the races whom they live in fear of.   What's more is the world of Sem itself is growing colder and less habitable as the core of the planet cools, and the stars which warm it grow more distant. Yet among these dangers lingers the great Entity Nicholas; a creature of great power whom is imprisoned in a shadowy orb hovering above the world. He is said to embody death, and many faiths place the creature's imprisonment as some great biblical event. Despite this, each day the orb hovers above the middle of the world, fixed and motionless, while the planet itself spins on an axis.   The solution to these lingering horrors remains unanswered by god or man; and so today, you walk safely, but tomorrow remains unspoken.
