Treason & Banishment

Set to be executed for publishing treasonous articles and attempting to revolutionize the way information is dispensed, Vallon Demarkque would suffer the same fate as many other 'spies' within the nation of Verden; he is to be buried under a tree with the roots wrapped around his limbs and cuts made across his chest in the area of his lungs, heart, and liver, and he is to be kept as living fertilizer as the roots keep him barely alive.
A gnomish prisoner is transported to the darkest corners of his people's capital without trial. He's been suspected of attempting to leak technological secrets, and is to be a guinea pig to advance the very technology he sought to share with the world.
After some heavy deliberation, the Quine of Liston has judged exile more appropriate than execution, as the offender is someone close to the public's heart. The radical anti-slavery activist had been stirring up discontent with the lax treatment of Melange slavery within Kinneki borders; his will to reform the acts that banned slavery is contradictory with the trade the Kinnek and Melange partake in, and that just can't be stood for. The man is given some bare supplies and trinkets of his home and is sent off with envoy to distant dwarven lands, hopefully never to be seen again under the threat of death on his return.
The cost of exile or death is something not commonly dealt within many of the nations of Sem, as magic and alien ethics allow for punishments worse than simple execution. Exile is exceedingly rare, and is only dealt out to figures whom who's death would cause outroar, or to whom are respected by the authority of the nation. Many systems simply rely on the removal of the criminal from society rather than to reform them, so capital punishments are far more likely for murderers and brigands than incarceration.
