Sponge
Sponges are a group of mostly aquatic creatures with porous, soft bodies.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The most defining feature of sponges is their mushy, porous bodies, and their general lack of internal organs other than a basic circulatory system. Despite this, sponges may have a wide array of appendages and external organs, such as ears, eyes, and arms. External organs with the purpose of movement are rare, and most sponges are sessile. Other than that, sponges are highly variable.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Sponges generally sustain themselves by sifting the nutrients of the surrounding area through their bodily tissue, and absorbing them.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
The sensory capabilities of a sponge are dependent on what sensory organs it possesses. As this varies between different species of sponge, so do their sensory capabilities.
