The Unwanted Sacrifice

History

This tradition began when the residents of Nyrx first realized that Throne, the Trickster God, wasn't so bad. They are known to be kind of chaotic, so they started to sacrifice one female and one male to them every year on the first day of the first month of the new year. They never really learned what happened to them, but Thorne didn't kill them all or reign too much destruction on them, so they think it works.

Execution

They put the names of every single young person in the hat, so to speak, and draw two names out. Those two are then herded to the designated sacrifice spot before sunrise, where they disappear in a flash of black smoke right as the sun rises. They normally wear black clothes and all the gold they can get their hands on.

Participants

A long time ago, the people of Nyrx figured out that Thorne doesn't really like the older people, so the sacrifices are usually of people between the ages of 16 and 23. Mostly everyone from that area comes to see them off since it's frankly better than what they were going to be doing that day. Plus, Thorne always sends a lot of food to thank them for the sacrifice.

Observance

Every year on the first day of the first month of the new year.
