Hack Decks

Hack Decks are special portable computers invented by The Risen for quickly hacking into Union computer systems or even a city's network. They are small, slightly larger than the human hand, and have a handle on one side (screen does not adjust to how someone is holding it). They are able to contain one terabyte of data, and can connect either wirelessly or physically to any computer within range, permitting that the hack is strong enough to do so. It can be used to write code and create viruses, but usually that is done by the experts at The Risen's main base of operation and then sent to the device to download and eventually be used. This device is the main reason that The Risen are able to gather information without being detected, as every device contains a code that wipes all memory of its having accessed a computer or network before disconnecting. Due to its large memory space, it is able to hold a great amount of different codes and viruses as well as gathered data, either to access information, to defend itself from external access and detection, or whatever the situation may require. These devices are checked and updated often in case of bugs and to either edit currently downloaded programs or to add new ones. As a matter of precaution, they also contain a small amount of explosive as well as a virus to wipe its own memory to prevent any of these devices from falling into the hands of The Council, who would undoubtedly use them to track down The Risen, or at the very least turn them to their own purposes. This can be manually or remotely activated, to a distance of five miles, though there must be a signal to do so.   Only chosen agents among The Risen who rank high enough in coding and hacking are allowed to use them, both to ensure that even if problems occur with programs they can be fixed in the field as well as to make sure that they do not easily fall into enemy hands. Those who are given this privilege are trained in its use and learn to know every piece of their device in order to be able to fully assess problems while on their own. They are then assigned to one of the special squads whose job it is to gain access to necessary information within the different levels of the networks which help all of the Spheres to operate properly. Some information requires more digging and getting past higher levels of security than other things, which increases the risk of detection, but there have been almost no problems to date.
