Jean d'Aubigné
Main character, A young man with a lot of secrets.
Left his mercenary parents to enroll in an actual high school so he could get a real diploma. All his skill comes from helping his dad do his work.
Physical Description
Healthy and strong, but not to the point of being athletic.
His aim is unreal. Whether he's using a gun or a bow, and doesn't have an issue with scailing fifty story buildings.
Dresses casually, usually in jeans and a tee shirt with some band he's never heard of but likes the aesthetic anyway.
Mental characteristics
Jean's biological family imported to the US when he was a baby. He's not sure what happened to his birth parents, but he was adopted by Paul and Kristen Stevens. Paul is a mercenary and Jean grew up constantly on the move as his parents tried to find work and avoid the notice of King, who regularly recruited mercenaries for his side against their will. He was homeschooled for most of his education but when he went in to his senior year of high school he asked to go to a normal school, so he could graduate properly. They agreed and let him pick the school. They weren't thrilled when he chose the biggest school in the country, but let him go anyway. He was still the age of a Junior so the school insisted he spend the rest of the school year as a junior before joining the senior class though he already knows the material. So the actual schoolwork is a bit dull for him, but it allowed him to meet Terra and later Hannah so it ended up working alright. His parents helped him find a condo, though he has to pay for it himself. After he got settled in they left, going back to their normal life, promising to come back before graduation to attend the ceremony and celebrate with him. He hasn't decided if he wants to stay in DC after graduation, or join his dad as a mercenary for hire. Hannah being his primary reason for staying, though she's mentioned she wouldn't mind coming along as long as they were properly married first. He's pretty cool with that arrangement, but isn't convinced that's what either of them really wants.
Has only ever been interested in one person. Friendship so deep it turned into love.
A natural genius, mostly homeschooled but has transfered to DC High School to get a deploma.
Achieved the highest score the military has ever seen on it's entrance test. So he was moved straight into the special division at only eighteen.
He made a mistake while on a mercinary job for his father and is trying to make up for it by joining the military.
Severe PTSD and a phobia of enclosed spaces.
He is incredibly intelligent, and could have graduated a year ago. But due to his age and lack of socialization from being homeschooled they kept him in his own age group.
Personality Characteristics
He wants to do some good in the world, not for fame or fortune but just because he messed up a mission a year ago and wants to make up for it. He loves Hannah more than he's ever loved anyone before and would do almost anything for her.
Cooking, he doesn't even have an oven and if Hannah didn't bring him food her mom made he'd eat granola bars and fast food for every meal.
He's also not great at honesty. Lying is easier than telling the truth and it gets him in a lot of trouble. Social norms and pop culture are also weakspots. Not recognizing even the media he wears merchandice for.
He likes basketball, and anything with peanut butter in it. He likes puzzle and simulation video games. He likes a good fight but really likes being outside the combat with a sniper rifle. He really likes guns, just in general, thinks they're cool.
He doesn't like chinese food, and isn't a fan of the russian language. He dislikes fighting games because they're unrealistic and he hates imputing button combinations for special moves. He doesn't like books or RPGs because they're too slow, but he'll sit and watch a good movie so long as it's not too long.
More than anything however he likes making friends and hates locks and enclosed spaces.
He's a severe liar. And really good at it too. He's trying to get better, or rather Hannah is trying to teach him to kick the habit but it's not going well.
His speech gets almost completely unintelligible when he's too excited. As he has a really thick accent and has to concentrate to pronounce things correctly.
Social
His mother and father are alive, but not nearby. And he might have a biological family somewhere but he doesn't know anything about them, he's never really looked for them. He's content with the family he has.
Recently converted Christian. Baptist denomination. His girlfriend led him to Christ three months ago, and he's been going to church with her regularly.
Before that he'd never really thought of religion.
He collects firearms. Other than that he has no hobbies beyond ones he does just to spend time with his girlfriend. Enjoys basketball, but doesn't participate enough for it to be a hobby.
Thick French accent, but he can mimic other accents. It just takes more concentration than he's usually willing to put in.
History
They met when Jean enrolled in DC High School as a junior. Hannah's best friend introduced them. They were just friends at first, but it didn't last that long. Their decision to start dating was sort of an accident. Jean didn't realize she was interpreting his invitations as a date until much later. Figuring it out, however, changed nothing.

He has a lot of money, mostly because he has a really high position in the military and doesn't have anything to do with it. Since he's so used to moving around all the time, a lot of stuff is just inconvenient.
