Corpin's Path

"Y'see those stars, lad? The brightest ones in the sunfall sky? See how they stretch towards the north, two by two? That's yer lifeline if yer ever lost. No matter where in Oara you are, Corpin's Path will show the way. Bringer might be the patron Saint of us Kingfishers, but the Saint of Explorer's will always guide yer sails."
-Kingfisher N'Davit to his son
Corpin's Path is a prominent constellation named after the Saint of Exploration and Patron Saint of the Copperwalk Charter guild. This constellation will always point towards true north no matter where it is observed on Oara. Visually, the constellation is comprised of a line of paired stars that taper off towards the point indicating north. The "path" of the constellation contains five pairs totaling out at ten stars. Many claim this represents the ten Saints of mortalkind.   The stars that make up Corpin's Path are almost always the brightest stars in the sunfall sky. This makes them easily discernible to even the untrained eye. It also means that, despite location like a bustling lit city, one can always find the constellation save for the cloudiest of days. On certain days throughout the year the stars of Corpin's Path are not always the brightest stars, but those that outshine them are often in smaller clusters or are simply lone stars and thus make it difficult to confuse the two.

History

The recognition of Corpin's Path as a constellation dates back as far as the Extrication. Named after the Saint of Exploration in Tayvanism, Corpin of the Hin people lead the races of mortalkind to the land of their exile: Oara. It is said that Corpin's Path was the constellation used to keep the Saints and their peoples oriented as they traveled passed trial and terror in their obedience to divine wrath. As time passed, it became more and more associated with the Copperwalk Charter guild. Corpin, patron Saint of the guild, taught the founding members all that they knew about navigation over land, sea, and by star. The widespread knowledge of the constellation and its everyday use by the common folk across Oara is accredited to the Copperwalk Charter and its teachings.
