Iceworm Silk
Keeps warm people cold and good food fresh

Just wrap it around your forehead and look at you now, goodbye sweat!"Iceworm silk, which maintains a temperature of 30 Fahrenheit, is an uncommon material that's popularity grows as word of it spreads. Farming iceworms is a relatively new practice, and there are many entrepreneurs jumping at the opportunity to grow their own riches.
Properties
Material Characteristics
Processed iceworm silk is naturally light blue and glossy, and extremely light and thin. The silk is commonly dyed a variety of colors for aesthetic purposes.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Iceworm silk maintains a temperature of 30 Fahrenheit, even in sweltering heat.
Geology & Geography
Iceworms are fairly plentiful in areas with abundant vegetation. They actually prefer warmer climates, so they're not often found on high altitudes.
Origin & Source
Iceworm cocoons, the source of iceworm silk, are not very big. Although the worms are plentiful, processed iceworm silk is still a farely rare and expensive material.
Life & Expiration
Iceworm silk will lose its cooling properties after about 5 years.
History & Usage
History
Iceworm silk was first produced to keep perishable foods from rotting. However, many species of sentients prefer or need cold temperatures to be comfortable or survive. It didn't take long before iceworm silk was fashioned into clothing that retains a constant temperature of 30 Fahrenheit.
Since its initial development, demand from the far-off desert settlements for the material has only increased. Iceworm farms are still in their infancy, but it is a growing industry with immense demand.
Everyday use
Iceworm silk's most common usage is in bags to keep perishable food fresh. However, as word of its cooling properties has spread, more and more people desire it for clothing. Species that need to maintain a cooler internal temperature find it especially appealing and useful, but desert communities of all species request the specialized cloth.
Industrial Use
Iceworm silk is woven from iceworm thread into large bundles of soft, light, cloth. Currently, the only factory specializing in iceworm silk is in Clothland. However, many folk across Pritvy gather and process the silk in smaller quantities themselves for personal use and trade.
Refinement
Iceworm cocoons must be processed and then spun into iceworm thread.
Hazards
Those processing and weaving iceworm silk must be wary of its temperature. Too much exposure over a period of time can lead to frostbite.
Distribution
Trade & Market
The largest exporter of iceworm silk is Clothland. The current iceworm farms can only produce a limited amount of cocoons, which must then be processed, turned into thread, and woven into cloth, so the material is quite valuable.
