Sending Services

With the rise of the Human Empire came an abundance of mass-produced technology, and nowhere was that more apparent than in the prevalance of the sending stone. A sending stone is a wondorous item that, when paired with another, can be used to send a message of twenty five words between those holding them. Though costly to create, they require little to no maintenance and have no limit to their number of uses, and as such prove popular with organisations that require great amount of efficient communication such as an army or guard force. After the fall of the Human Empire these particular uses of the sending stone were much less called for, and so while some of the pairs were sold off relatively cheaply, the majority were requisitioned for the creation of the Sending Service.   Spread far across The Standing, in most major hubs of habitation, members of the Sending Service provide a quick and relatively cheap way to send information across the continent. Operating much like a modern day telegraph, once the appropriate form is filled in with the message and receiver's details, it is a sending stone operator's job to select the most efficient path through their network to assure the message reaches the office closest to the intended recipient. Once there, the final operator will write out the message and send it through the Sending Service's external courier system to reach it's final destination. Once the message is received, the recipient has twenty four hours to submit a twenty five words reply form, which will be delivered for free to the Sending Services location at which the first message originated.   Sending Service Operators spend long days in tight cubicles relaying precise information through a sprawling network of interconnected pairs of sending stones, often personally managing the connections for up to five seperate stones, and though their faces are never shown to the public, they keep the confidence of their clients their highest priority.
