Ceremony of Genders

History

The Ceremony of Genders is a Darikae tradition. It has changed as the ethnicity has evolved and added more recognized genders.

Execution

There is usually a group of thirteen year-old children, but there may be one in some cases, and a being whose job is called "Gendermaster". The Gendermaster assigns genders to the children based on assessments of knowledge and reaction to others. The Gendermaster calls each child up, declares which gender(s) they have been assigned, and gives them pins that correspond to the gender assigned. The Gendermaster gives a speech about the choices for one's gender(s) after offering and equipping the gender pins. At the end of the ceremony, the Gendermaster and the newly gender-assigned children bow and walk off.

Components and tools

A Ceremony of Genders can be very formal and include other items such as incense or colored ash to apply to the hands of the children, but at the bare minimum, enough gender pins are required.

Observance

When a child or a group of children turn thirteen, the Ceremony of Genders is planned.
It can also be observed as a reassignment of genders if one wishes to be formally reassigned.
