The Pauper's Blessing

The Pauper's Blessing is a common religious text that comes in various forms. At its root, it is a series of proverbs and parables written by Sintar the Pauper of the Five Heroes and first representative of Gubrilion. They are presented as the story of his life, the lessons he learned along the way, and the hardships he overcame in his search for a truly satisfying existence. However, there is no known completed collection of those stories, even in the many libraries of the University of Bamalion.   Sintar supposedly built up the different parts of the Blessing privately over the course of his life, not even telling Tirelian the Scholar of it. One day, he received a vision that his life would soon come to an end and set off on a journey across the world, giving out the leaflets to people who needed them. He wandered anonymously for nearly a year, spreading parts of the Blessing to people in need, telling them exactly what they needed to overcome their own struggles. Shortly after he gave away the final piece, he found a lone tree in the fields of eastern Shindus and fell asleep in its shade, never to awaken again.   This is why it is unknown what the Pauper's Blessing looks like in its entirety. By the time Sintar had passed and it became clear what his final act as representative was, many people who had received parts of his blessing over the course of the year had not held on to the physical copy. In the wake of his passing, the 2nd representative of Bamalion began a massive movement to collect and reconstruct the entire piece, but by that time it was too late. Many of the original pieces were lost or forgotten, and in the effort to find them all, many people gave false testimony about pieces they claimed to have received, so it is impossible to even tell which pieces that remain were originally part of The Blessing.   The original pieces that were collected are held in the sacred library in Tirelian's Spire, but the stories held on them have become part of the public conscious. The most famous quotes and stories from The Blessing are used in everyday life. Matching Sintar's original action, however, most people do not carry written copies of the entire Blessing. They instead write out particular pieces that are relevant to their life and hardships to carry them around as good luck charms and reminders of how to act.
