Barrule

A jungle island inhabited by 4 lizardfolk tribes primarily, and ruled by a Vampire, Queen Eudora. She rules over a large court of Drow, who do her bidding and enforce her control over Barrule, worshipping her as a prophet of Vahlen (God of the Dark).
4 Lizardfolk Tribes:

• Scaletails - all the scales on the last foot or so of their tails are removed, leaving bare skin open. Have territory up to Jeden.

• Redclaws - the claws on their left little fingers are painted red. Have territory up to Vezgolonti.

• Coalbacks - the scales on their backs are ashy black. Have territory up to Fikcja.

• Bloods - every vein in their bodies stands out a livid yellow. Have territory beyond Fikcja.

The tribes are part of the wilderness, but they respect it and live with it. They accept that there are monsters and that life is difficult, but that makes it worth living. Life is about the fight and the struggle of keeping on, and the nobility of denying the cycle for as long as possible. It is righteous to defy death, but wise to accept that it will come eventually, inevitably.

Vahlen goes beyond the Queen and the Drow - they are just conduits for its will. Vahlen keeps everyone safe, keeps the world safe, keeps it trapped in the dark below.

"It" is a Tarrasque, and is treated as a dormant God below the surface of the island, one that will eventually burst from below and tear the world in two, giving everything a new start, before becoming dormant again. This is the cycle of existence.

The Yuan-Ti, also native to the island, though they dwell far deeper in the jungles than the Lizardfolk, despise them for selling their island out to Eudora when she first arrived. The Yuan-Ti refused to bend to her will, so she killed thousands of them, hoping to beat them into submission. The snake-people are hardy, however, and cruelty is a part of their culture. They survived, and thrive on the thought of slaughtering the traitorous Lizardfolk along with their adopted Queen.

Geography

Very mountainous, with a central ridge running the length of the island. Acres of tropical forest. Several large swamp regions.
