Religious leaders are the same. They promise to make everything easy. Easy answers to your difficult questions. Easy ways to get the things you want. Easy ways to avoid becoming one of those mindless vapors. All you have to do is devote yourself to them entrely. A bit of coin is always a big help, too.
Prestige: Religious leaders are adored by their flock and avoided by most everyone else, but a flock with a bit of wealth and influence here and there is useful.
Accoutrement: The actual trappings of faith vary by the god, but all will have some kind of god, spirit, or essence they worship, and almost all have many followers.
