Dragon

The archetypal magic creature, dragons inhabit the entirety of Irëduin, and are both feared and respected across the world. Tales of their majesty and power are sung across the kingdoms, and those accepted as a dragonrider quickly climb the ladder of power.

Abilities

Dragons have scales harder than steel, claws sharper than elven swords, and flaming breath that can melt pure tungsten. With the capacity to adapt to most environments and the power of flight, dragons are possibly the most powerful creatures in Irëduin.
Additionally, dragons have some innate magical abilities that augment their power even further. They can see invisible creatures, create limited magical wards akin to those of lexomancers, and fly faster than the wind for short periods of time. Moreover, dragons are practically immortal and incredibly difficult to kill.

Dragonriders

Some dragons form psychic bonds with sapient creatures such as humans, dwarves, and elves. Such a bond is similar to that between shadow dragons and duskwalkers. If one of the bonded dies, the other either dies or is driven mad, as a sliver of their psyche is dragged into the Border with the deceased. The bonded can communicate telepathically over long distances, although this telepathic link can be blocked by certain circumstances, such as a large amount of rock between the two. If the non-dragon isn't already a mage, they begin to develop weak abilities similar to an agimach's, and their physical resilience improves.

Shadow Dragons

Although possessing a similar name, shadow dragons are unrelated to true dragons, instead having been created by a group of mages during the First Age. These dragons were made as companions for duskwalkers, and as such each has an unbreakable bond with a specific duskwalker.
In addition to the regular capabilities of true dragons, shadow dragons can turn invisible and teleport short distances. Even without these capabilities, their inky black scales allow them to blend into darkness perfectly.
