Stalian the Dark – God of Thieves

The Unworthy Son

The Story of Stalain the Dark is one that none will speak of openly. His crimes are legendary. His offenses against the Gods and Mortals so known, so universally accepted... no one can name them. Everyone knows that Stalain is the source of all that is evil in Greenwold. Everyone knows he loves all things unholy and unclean.   Since everyone knows it, it must be true, right?   Stalain is the third oldest of the gods, born of Mirrah and Gideon long before they came to what would become the Greenwold. The older brother to Beran, he was to have been King. This much is spoken of in Beran's temples. Then came the Betrayal. Some say it was splitting Lunae's elves. Some say it was introducing Necromancy into the world. But none save the gods know the truth of the matter - they only say that Stalain betrayed them, and Stalain should be cast out.   It is thus that his temples sit empty.   It is thus that none openly worship him.   It is thus that Stalain The Bright became Stalain the Dark - and the world laid its ills at his feet.

Clergy

If there are Clergy of Stalain, none admit it. There is talk of a temple to Stalain operating in the murk and mire of Slew, but even in that city, none would admit it.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

There are no symbols of this faith. As close as might come, would be a broken tower - emblematic of the ruins of the Temple of Stalain in Greyhaven.

Tenets of Faith

None will speak of the Tenets of Stalain's Faith. As close as may be possible to tenents are found etched into a cliffside in the Trollfell. Carved letters twenty feet tall, lit with an azure blue glow, are legible from miles away, even at night. All efforts to remove them by the Alabaster Academy have failed. Common wisdom says they are just magical graffiti left by an ancient magus with an axe to grind. "Mirrors shatter. Time crumbles. Kings pass on. Misers and Masters alike fear the dark."
