Scur the Wrathful – Goddess of the Ocean

Goddess of Storms and Sea

Scur is not a goddess who inspires direct worship in most situations. Instead, Scur is a goddess one seeks to placate with offerings and ritual. People do not come to Scur to ask for anything but their lives. From Sailors to fishermen, from boat builders to people who just live by the sea, all who have witnessed her power visit her shrines and temples to leave offerings in the hopes of avoiding her wrath.   And then there are those who come not because of what they wish not to happen, but because of what has happened. The mourners and seekers, the ones who will never know the true fate of their loved ones.   Some say that deep in the seas, a race of aquatic elves worship Scur as their mother.

Clergy

The clergy of Scur are drawn exclusively from the families of those lost at sea. They tend to be compassionate to those who seek solace in loss, but less forgiving of the wealthy merchants who want assurances their ships will not be torn asunder.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The Clergy of Scur wear cereulan and turquoise, the colors of the sea when it is calm, with most favoring a belt of rope adorned with seashells and bird feathers. Most temples of Scur have their own localized symbols for her, with no truly universal standard.

Tenets of Faith

*Respect the Sea - Make sacrifices to the Sea. The offerings should be valuble to the offerer, not to Scur. Scur is said to respect the pauper who gives of what little he has, than the prince who offers a thousand times that, but misses it not.   *Prepare well - If you seek to tempt the Sea's Wrath, come prepared. Do not engage in the trade of oceans if you are going to cut corners. Nothing ensures the Sea's wrath quite like a vessel in ill-repair.
