When the Ironfoot Empire fractured, we had a despotic king who took control of teh people of Glamin. He cut up the land for nobility, leaving the peasants to starve. He stripped the cities of their rights, leaving them at the mercy of greedy courtiers. He destroyed the merchant class, by making the economy strictly regulated. Of course, us merchants couldn't stand that.
