Huerta's Hammer

Huerta's Hammer is the defacto military organization across the entirety of the Nine Realms. It started from humble beginnings, in the small village of Cheran. Bandit lords had taken to exploiting the local farmers and stealing the fruits of their labors, the fruits not already taxed by the local baron who provided no protection in exchange for his tithes. A young woman, Dolores Clara Fernandez Huerta, having spent years in the fields working to support her family, decided she would not suffer these injustices any longer. She began to organize meetings with the others in the village. Bringing them together after their days labors to discuss a world where they were free of the parasites that sought to fatten themselves off of their hard work. At first many thought she was crazy, that it was foolish to seek a life greater than that they had been given. But she was dogged and determined, and when next the bandits came she stared them down in the town square and put her body between them and the crops they sought to steal. Standing alone, against these vandals she did not have a hope of success, but seeing her passion, hearing her voice blast back at these tyrants, she was not standing alone for long. Her compadres came to her aid and joined her in running the bandits out of the town, this process was repeated next time the tax man came calling. With the extra value they were able to save from their work they quickly armed themselves and sought experts in the sword and bow to train them. Over the years word spread like wildfire through the land, of this peasant woman who had united her people and brought strength to the common folk. Many came to hear her story, to train with her team and then to spread the reach of the Hammer further afield. Eventually when the nine realms came together under a banner of peace, the elect of the council sought out Dolores and beseeched her to bring the hammer down on those who would oppress the people. After long and drawn out negotiations about the financing of such a unified military force she agreed and her name has become legend. Many keep shrines to Dolores in their homes, praying for protection, but at this point they need not pray any longer, her legacy and hard work have made a better world, for all people.
