Deepland Crane

These are particularly advanced cranes that utilize a complicated set of gears and connections that allows them to move heavy loads of goods up and down quickly at the flip of a switch. They were developed by the deep dwarves, and have since allowed them to increase the speed of their expeditions and mining into the deeper parts of the Riftgrounds.   Currently the technology is fairly confined to the deep dwarves, though they are rather common place in their mines. They've had the technology for several years now, and it's probably only the isolationist tendencies of the deep dwarves that have kept these cranes from spreading to other cultures interested in excavating the deep places of the world.   They can haul several tons at once on the large mat connected to the main structure of the crane, and are primarily used to move large quantities of rock or ore up to higher level where it can be stored either for later use of given to merchants on their rare trading expeditions above ground.   Since their invention accelerated the deep dwarves' ability to explore deeper into the world, they have made multiple other notable discoveries. New gems that haven't been seen before have been hauled out of the deep in recent years, but perhaps more dramatically, the deep dwarves have found a new rift in the deepest depths. Where it leads in currently unknown, as the first expedition inside to explore didn't return, and after many days of waiting, the deep dwarves sealed off the area out of fear. Information about it hasn't gotten out of their cities, but if it does it's likely only a matter of time before the tales attract other explores into their caves. Avoiding this situation, and giving away secrets of not only their cranes but many of the other advancements they have made over the years, if one of the major reasons for keeping it a secret.
