The Moonchildren

Little is known about the Moonchildren apart from their god and original home. The notes of Captain Richard offer some insights into the secretive race:

August 20

They once walked among the Nutt-Gboyen of Dimension XVII, but were exiled from the planet for being rowdy and aggressive.

En Arche

They likely evolved on the planet Mikaloz from some original amphibious mollusc-like ancestor.     Their six eyes, octopoid heads and batlike wings made them the target of discrimination, leading to them ultimately rejecting Yahabomek and his people as rulers of their planet. Instead, they centred themselves around Uqhrat, considered the first of their kind.     When years of rebellion had passed they were banished, sent to Africa on planet Earth. After a great war they were allowed to return to Mikaloz.

Language

Their language has three vowels and thirteen consonants: A, I, U, M, P, F, N, T, Z, L, R, Y, K, Qh, W, H. The sound rendered "QH" is a voiceless uvular plosive, like the Arabic sound for Qamar.     There's an interesting coincidence regarding the name "Africa" and the name the Moonchildren already had for the continent before they arrived, "Aprika", from "Aper Tikiaqh", the "Cradle of Planet Earth."

Uqhrat

Uqhrat is considered their patriarch and progenitor, having green skin instead of the faience-blue common to the rest of the species, and large crab-like pincers in place of arms. He is said to have known Tul Gulkhonash, father of Yahabomek, personally.     Uqhrat is often depicted in stone with the following iconography: in his right pincer he holds a bendir, the drum symbolizing the world's creation, and in his left pincer some firewood, the world's destruction. He stands with one leg balancing on a prostrate nutt-gboi, representing Vovin who symbolizes ignorance, and his left leg is raised with the foot pointing to the east. He is surrounded by a ring that can be made of metal or woven branches, symbolizing the cyclical nature of time.     Oftentimes strangers will be sacrificed to Uqhrat. Kit was almost spit-roasted twice before she came to me to borrow my notes. Poor thing, she really should take a vacay.
