I've Lied So Much

'Dicunt insipientes in cordibus suis amor noster morietur, Cassitere.'
There are things you never had the time to show me,   Like how I could be surrounded but still feel lonely,   Like how I live alone in a house of stone   Self-made, collapsing slowly.   There are things you never had the time to show me,   Like how I'd be my one and only,   Like how my friends would have their ends,   And life's not always rosy.   There are things you never had the time to show me,   Like how to move on when you left so coldly,   Like how to get by and stifle my cries   When this world has sold me.   And I've lied so much I breathe no air,   And I've lied so much I feel no care,   And I've lied so much I sense no light,   Like you were never there.

This poem is based on the myth of the semi-divine Sminthos and his mortal lover Kassiteros. Its lines are commonly used by members of the Council to identify each other via coded language.
