Elder Fae

Powerful and immortal beings with close ties to the natural world, Elder Fae are the rarest of the reborn races. Essentially demigods, most Elder Fae put up the appearance of a benevolent force, but beneath that they are just as emotionally and psychologically complex as any other individual. Elder Fae may possess perfected physical grace, but they aren't necessarily psychologically perfect creatures.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

Individual Elder Fae vary somewhat in physical appearance; Generally, however, they resemble more beautiful, perfected forms of lesser fae species. Most have at least one animalistic trait such as antlers, insectile wings, or cloven hooves. Their eyes often have irises of exotic colors, and glow brightly when their magical powers are used. Elder Fae wield diverse magical powers, typically relating to nature. Notably, they can shape and manipulate earth and plants at will, summon and control wild creatures, and control the weather in their immediate vicinity. They also possess incredible healing powers able to cure almost any known disease in existence.

Genetics and Reproduction

Elder Fae are capable of reproduction with one another, but the rarity of the species and extremely long gestation period (five years) mean that such children are extremely rare. Only about half of the Elder Fae alive today were born after the Return.

Growth Rate & Stages

Elder Fae grow extremely slowly, maturing over the course of a century. Once they reach maturity at approximately 120 years of age, they stop aging entirely.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

In addition to acute physical senses, Elder Fae maintain a psychic link with the natural world - particularly animals and plants - around them, giving them an uncanny awareness of their surroundings. For example, an Elder Fae can indirectly sense when a creature walks through a bush, or touches a tree, within their immediate surroundings. With focus, they can also receive sensory input from the natural creatures around them.
