Sarcadia's Memorial
Names of the fallen, carved into stone on a silent world.
A low mist envelops the endless plains in Neby. Stone piers cover the land, from the lowest grasslands to the highest mountains. Some have eroded with time, some have disintegrated into dust and others stand protected by magic barriers. Some are decorated with withering flowers that wave with the wind, like they were spirits bidding farewell to the world as they disappear.
Each pier is embedded with rows of names, written in both Haku-n and other foreign languages. Many have faded away with the wind and snow, and what remains is illegible compared to modern-day languages. The hills are silent, not a single bird or scuttering animal. Sarcadia's Memorial is still once again, today.
Purpose / Function
The Sarcadian plague was a disease that swept across the Realm during 53 100 BFF, killing nearly half of the population at the time. Nearly five centuries after its beginnings, a cure was discovered by a team of Haku-n researchers, which eradicated the disease and also began the medical revolution.
Despite this cure, the plague had still brought death to hundreds of millions of people. As a memory of this event, multiple nations at the time built memorials dedicated to the people who died during the event. The largest memorial being on a moon in Neby, the Haku-n's homeworld, one of the few multi-star system worlds.
While many of these memorials have been destroyed by war and raiding, Neby's stone piers still remain to this day, although very rarely visited by people. Some say that if you step into the middle of the field, you can still hear the soothed spirits of the dead as their suffering is laid to rest.
