Unraveller

An Unraveller is one who can break the bonds of things. They can break bonds of materials, making things dissolve. They can break the bonds of memory, disconnecting experiences, people and emotions from each other. Most importantly, Unravellers are the only way to break the bond of an Oather.

Excerpt from A Time & a Place
Unseelie Unravellers often burrowed into people's heads, undoing their will, their sense of ethics, even undoing specific thoughts. Others would literally unmake objects, turning them to dust without a care. A few would go so far as to expend a more substantial amount of energy to unmake living things, including people. As such, Unravellers had long had a reputation as destroyers.

Perception

Social Status

Unravellers are seen as very suspect by other Magecrafters. Since their ability allows them to literally dust people, Unravellers are considered a loaded gun - even more so than Boomers.

History

Unravellers are not well-known in history. Their ability has several effects that aren't subtle, and there has always been an effort to hide any disasters involving Unravellers.

That said, there are some historical events that are known to involve Unravellers and others where it is suspected that an Unraveller was involved.

The mystery of Roanoke Island is definitively an Unraveller at work, with a Boomer, Eliza Conrad. While details have never come to light, it is understood that most of the settlers at Roanoke were killed by the unnamed Unraveller and Eliza.

It is suspected that the disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle are the work of one or more natives of the Bahamas. The economic problems of the island nation were particularly bad during the later part of the 19th and early part of the 20th Centuries. This led to bitter feelings between the residents and Western powers. It is believed that at least two Unravellers intentionally attacked various planes and ships that trekked too close to the islands.
