Starting quest: One crystal to rule them all

Location: Blitence, Kingdom of Gepiv.

Plot points/Scenes

The players all are on the last test for their Adventurers league medal to become certified mercs/adventurers and help rebuild the world. Their final test is a test of combat prowess, survival tactics and initiative. The Party has kill a Monstrous rat that the league has released in the sewers. While wandering the sewers the party will find normal rats, oozes and other sewer dangers on the way and eventually a swarm of rats, rapidly moving through the sewers.
unlike the other rats they don't attack the party, the seem to have a goal in mind, only when the party obstructs their way they will use force to get past them. If the party defeat the swarm or kill the rat in the centre, they'll get the Damaged glass plateitem, a magic item that needs to be researched by a proper researcher before the party is able to learn more from it.
This item is crucial to the quest so if the players ignore the swarm of rats you can add the swarm to the giant rat boss or have the giant rat carry it.

When the players defeat the giant rat and return to the local guild house to report they'll first of all gain their Medals and turn into official adventurers.
Upon showing the crystal they'll point the party to the local arcane researcher, who can find out what it exactly is.
Upon researching for 5gp the researcher will tell it is some kind of messaging device and those who attune to it can get into contact with someone else. What exactly happens on attunement is explained in the article of the glass plate itself.
if attuned to by the researcher, the researcher will tell the players after the combat that this needs to be destroyed, since it could bring back the stahlists. and nobody is ready for that. The item cannot be destroyed by brute force, thus the players need to get more information about it, the best option to get that would be at Solus
