Library in Azure

This spiraling structure holds the entire history of the gillmen in various forms. At the top of the structure is the oldest information, in the form of the tops of ancient kelp plants, the information punched through the leaves in traditional meathods. Up here circles ancient gillmen, whose oral tradition is kept vibrant in stories passed from master to apprentice.

Spilling out and wrapping around the building are tunnels of coral which house records kept on thin slices of obsidian. Entire passages are etched onto the glass extremely finely, and when presented through a special projector or through the sunlight, their shadows weave their tales.

Younger apprentices are tasked with being librarians. Each one has a specialty, so finding the one who may be able to help you is a task to be sure.

Finally, small crabs with ancient runes etched onto their shells can help you find what you need. They especially are able to find connections between pieces of information scattered throughout the library.

All of the information is kept chronologically, so attempting to search one area for new information on the same topic would be pointless.

Purpose / Function

To house the records and legends of the Gillmen people.

Architecture

The spiraling structure is made of coral, with large windows of sea glass spread throughout the external structure. Twisting off shoots retreat and return to the primary vertical structure, these house no windows, but the refracted light from the sun is reflected off of the glass plates in these areas, creating a kaleidoscope of amber light.
