Ley-Lhoris Settlement in The Outer Black | World Anvil

Ley-Lhoris

When the Progenitor God of the Elves, Valen'aeris, first created the Elves, they let them free onto the world to do as they wish. As myth goes, however, this proved too dangerous to the newly-birthed ancestry, and so they were scooped back up and placed into three great spires constructed by Valen'aeris themselves, naming them "Ley-Lhoris", "Ley-Lhyandir" and "Ley-Lefyr". It is said that these were the founding points for the High Elves, Ink Elves and Wild Elves. Whilst Ley-Lefyr stands with empty halls, abandoned by the Wild Elves many eras ago, Ley-Lhoris and Ley-Lhyandir still stand tall, full of life. It is in Ley-Lhoris that the High Elves live, along with who they claim to be their Godking , Valen-aeris themselves.   Ley-Lhoris is a vast spire made of rock and stone, reaching high into the heavens. It is about 5 miles in radius, rising in a cylinder up to around six thousand feet tall. Over the many centuries and eras it has been standing, it has been carved into a great cathedral, with windows hundreds of feet tall, balconies detailing and skirting the spire, and vast gargoyles perched all over to keep a steady vigil over its inhabitants. Inside the spire live millions of High Elves, with great halls, libraries, schools, research facilities, indoor and hanging gardens and more. And seated at the very centre-point of this great construction is what the High Elves believe to be Valen'aeris, the Progenitor God of all Elves.    Up until the Fourth Era, this spire was also home to many thousands of Eligni, who occupied the lower third of the spire and worked on the open plains surrounding the base to earn their keep.
