Pathogen
Transmission & Vectors
The disease is spread by physical contact and through the air. Everything you don't want in a disease with a 99% mortality rate.
Causes
Symptoms
The disease is essentially a genetically modified version of necrotizing fasciitis. Necrosis starts at the point of contact and spreads rapidly to anything it can reach.
Treatment
The only thing you can do is remove the infected tissue and hope for the best.
Prognosis
There were hundreds of people at Ground Zero when the infection hit. Approximately 93% of the people infected died from their injuries, 6% avoided infection, and the remaining 1% was the twelve people who were infected and survived.
Those twelve people required extensive surgery and medical treatment, with the majority of them dealing with lifelong disabilities resulting from their respective injuries.
Affected Groups
The only people who were infected were the E.E. members at Ground Zero.
Prevention
You can cover your mouth and avoid physical contact with the infected, but the disease is so infectious that there's no guarantee that you'll be safe. Honestly, your best course of action is to run as fast and as far away as you can.
Epidemiology
The disease started with the infection of E.E.s leader. Concerned subordinates flocked to him, and became infected. Upon realizing this, they panicked, and tried to escape, accidentally infecting others. And then everything got worse.
