Claire held her flashlight out in front of her. The wet walls shimmered, but she couldn't see anything else.
"Claire," Grayson growled, "you know we shouldn't be down here, right?" Claire nodded.
"I know, I know, but..." she trailed off.
"But?" Alana asked, her voice still a bit scratchy from her earlier coughing fit. Claire turned to face her friends.
"We have to do something, right? We can't just keep letting people get hurt, can we?" Claire said, eyes full of determination. Alana and Grayson stared at her for a moment. Grayson was the first to break the silence, huffing loudly and pulling Alana forward.
"I hate it when you're right." He grunted. He let Alana grab Claire for support before snatching the flashlight from her and stalking forward.
"Neither of you are really dressed for this," he explained, gesturing to Claire's blue flats and Alana's fluffy skirt.
"I have boots, so you should probably let me go first, yeah?" Claire smiled.
"Lead the way."
