The Thieves Profession in The Offenders' Neighborhood | World Anvil

The Thieves

People call me a thief. Probably because that's true. But at least I don't just steal from the rich. I steal from the poor, too! I mean, if we're all about equality shouldn't everyone be stolen from? Now, I understand that since you're such a...noble....person you'd would never even think to steal.

But you've never even tried it. How dare you judge me and not even know what you're talking about. Really though, if you're a thief you at least get nice things, but I digress.

Career

Qualifications

Being a thief isn't something super difficult, but not something super easy. It takes time to develop a thief's walk and a pickpocket's hand, but that is something practiced. Pure and simple. Time, patience, practice.

There are no specific classes or lessons you need to take. Maybe some you should, but none are required. Being a thief is a profession you willingly walk into and teach yourself. It's not known for being fancy or glorious, and that's fine with me.

Career Progression

Most people start off being what a lot of people call a petty or common thief. And let me tell you being thief does not start off as a glorious profession. It starts off small and somewhat pitiful with stealing apples from vendors, wallets from careless people, only to then go up from there.

Once you're a well established petty thief most will start doing more high level robberies like stealing from stores, then people, then banks, then the governement. The order doesn't really matter, but all you must simply do is work your way up. It takes a lot of time and planning, but if being an infamous thief is what you really want, you'll find a way.

But being an infamous thief can't be for everyone. To become an infamous thief I don't really have any advice. I don't even remember how I did. Maybe I stole from someone famous. Robbed a grave. No one else is really sure either.
