Orami Lephros

Orami Lephros is a Nuanat Autumn Court Elf (long-tailed owl shape) and an Underpicker currently active in the Avantha Kolari.

Physical Description

Facial Features

Round golden eyes, thick brows, thin beak-like nose, pointed ears

Identifying Characteristics

In defiance of elven custom, Orami cuts his hair short, usually wearing at about chin length. He originally kept it long until a mishap with waver bees got a bunch of honey in his hair and he had to cut it off to keep them from attacking him. Ever since, he's found it more practical to wear it short, even if it means people assuming that he's indentured to Selath.

Apparel & Accessories

Orami's current clothing consists of a loose green shirt with a white bird patch on one forearm, brown trousers, several layers of socks, and shin-high boots. His outerwear consists of a light brown longcoat with a green Inverness-style capelet sown over the shoulders, brown gloves, and earmuffs. (He used to have a hat but had to trade it away recently.)

Specialized Equipment

Orami inherited several pieces of Lariel's equipment after her death, including a mortar and pestle, plant knives, a plant identification guide, needles, and a few vials carved of cryrite, which is extremely valuable in preserving materials. Selath also got him an amputation axe, but that has never been used for its intended purpose.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Orami didn't really know his parents even before their deaths as members of the Wild Hunt; he was five by the time both of them were gone. Their line of work left them too busy to raise him, and they left him with Lariel Rumath, an underpicker and family friend. Lariel began to train him in the trade, she died when he was eight in an accident on the field. To make matters worse, one of Lariel's compatriots lashed out at Orami, blaming him for distracting her and causing her death and scaring the boy into the woods rather than search for a new mentor.
On his own, Orami came close to death a few times, but he lived long enough to come across a juvenile Fire Dragon with a torn wing. Orami was able to stitch up the wing so that it would heal (mostly) correctly. In return, the dragon, Rigel Firewing, stayed with Orami, taking advantage of the Nuanat permission towards Roost dragons to hunt in the Avantha Kolari to keep them both fed, as well as protecting the boy. Eventually, the two would formally take each other as their Suvet.
Not long after Orami and Rigel began to travel the Avantha Kolari together, they picked up a third member of their group, another elf left orphaned by the Wild Hunt named Selath Gallyana. While they initially got along very well with Orami, as the two grew older, the elves began to clash over their goals: Orami had become skilled enough as an underpicker and medic to work professionally and sustain the little group, while Selath had always intended to join the Wild Hunt when they were old enough and assumed Orami would follow them. The two began to argue more and more until Selath left. On the upside, a recent herb collection job paid Orami and Rigel in a Slate. While Rigel suspects it was stolen and pawned off on them to hide it from the authorities, Orami is grateful for some connection with people his age in the world beyond.

Gender Identity

Education

Orami had about three years of training under Lariel Rumath as an underpicker, along with reading and writing Theen, before her death. While no other underpickers were willing to take him on as an apprentice, he was able to trade herbs and fungi that he'd collected for medical texts (Selath also stole a few things for him).

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Orami's primary focus is keeping himself and Rigel alive, followed by bringing medicine to the people of the Avantha Kolari, particularly those who aren't directly affiliated with the Wild Hunt and can't access their resources. However, part of him is looking for a way out of this dangerous lifestyle, especially if he can find Selath and take them with him and Rigel.
