Whirlpool Storms
Named after one of the Twin Champions, Jadrun Gulf takes its name after twin Champion of the Wild Mother, Melora. The gulf itself expands across the Eastern end of the main Promera of the Promeran Kingdom. Though it doesn't have many bays or ports, the waters are much too rough for that. Danger lurks in the blues located within the boundaries of the gulf, as whirlpools plague the entire place. In addition to that, there is a giant roiling storm that appears over the largest whirlpool that sits over the center of the gulf every decade or so.
There are some theories by kingdom scientists that posit a strange magnetic force causing the storm, other's attribute it to the anger of the gods. According to this myth however, the truth resides in a much more grounded sentiment. The myth regards the storm as the hallmark of an age old feud, between the eldest Aldrin brother Jadrun, and Captain Erigard Galihand. Captain Erigard Galihand was the head of a pirate crew known as the Freemen, a group of criminals and defectors that broke away from Promera early on in its establishment. Galihand went on to become a legend, committing treachery, piracy, and treacherous piracy in all 3 Trident Seas. His exploits even took him out to the far far West, to the edges of the Vior Aehki and the desert port Alder. He betrayed men, kings, and gods alike, and Galihand became shorthand for two timing and back stabbing. That is, until someone finally outsmarted Galihand.
Jadrun Aldrin was a sailor by trade before his rise to becoming the Wild Mother Champion, and his travels had alerted him to the legends of Galihand. Galihand approached the trade routes Jadrun had frequented. He sent warning shots to Galihand's ship, the Rail Anchor, and chased him out into the middle of the Gulf. The ships circled one another with such speed and veracity, that they say a whirlpool began to form from their chase. Jadrun supposedly on the the bow of his ship, slinging insults at Galihand. When the whirlpool was just right, Jadrun let go of the anchor on their ship, propelling them out of the whirlpool's grasp. Some say it was the Wild Mother's hand herself that pushed the lad out of the pool, but in any case, Galihand was sucked into the depths through the immeasurable force. Ever since then, whirlpools have appeared all over the gulf, and there are whispers that the gigantic storm that settles over one particular pool is the rage of Galihand himself, roaring to take his revenge on Jadrun.
