Gibo Outlands
One of the most fascinating parts of this area of the world known as the Land of Beasts, is the wide variety of biomes that exist in that span. From highland forests to deep jungle swaps to open fertile fields. Even the surrounding ocean societies have varying topographies and landscapes, shaping the societies of people who found themselves in these areas. Not all these areas are bright, fervent and survivable. In some places in this part of Exandria, the landscape is quite dangerous and hostile. The Gibo Outlands, is one such region.
Located on the South end of the continent of Myrandir, The Gibo Outlands are a dried out, cracked badlands. The verdant forestlands of the Velorian Woods die out and give way to the white clay earth of the Outlands. If one wants to travel to the Southern tips of Myrandir or to the mountain ranges that keep the gates to those Southern peninsulas, one has to travel through the Outlands.
The color palette of this land is the most shocking aspect of it. Harsh bone whites, grays, dull blacks. All the cracked earth and foliage are colored in a weathered echo of white. The fauna takes after the haunting palette as well, in an effort to camouflage with the surroundings. In terms of creatures, only nomads and hermits populate the plains. Heavily guarded merchant caravans who seek the riches of the North gamble their life being traveling through the Outlands. There are gigantic insects and beasts that mimic typical animals, but are differentiated by bone-like protrusions coming out of their bodies.
The presence of such a landscape in the middle of the continent baffles scientists and religious figures. Some theorize that a great battle of the Champions of the Gods during the Calamity stripped the place of its life and color. Others thought that the Age of Arcanum mages produced an experiment that went horribly awry. Now the Gibo Outlands has tied itself to the identity of the country, becoming an indispensable (for better or worse) part of the continent of Myrandir.
