The Dark Night

Era beginning/end

The Turnal are taken to Darkness and they become a Race.

Darkness made many forays to the Vela system and Dweomer. It had taken other entities to itself and from the world, to the places beyond Vela's influence. Some had been taken and became Races and some were taken as individuals, becoming the Monstrous.     In this time, Darkness looked once more at the Turnal. It saw that they had mastered the world enough that they might flourish elsewhere. Darkness did see some parts of their societal make up that were lacking and looked away. It was at that moment that Factor Reish challenged Darkness to look again. Darkness was not more than amused by Reish's stance. Reish called to Vela and commanded it to bring to her hand a weapon, with which to strike a blow for her kind. Vela pulsed -- a natural enough thing for the star to do, although it could not be called a regulated occurrence. A sword came into being in Reish's hand.     Reish again challenged Darkness. Darkness laughed and told Reish to make the most of her last moments. Reish swore by all she knew, even the other Factors and their kind as well as her own, that she would not be mocked. She struck at Darkness and part of its form was split from it. Darkness no longer laughed at the Turnal. For a moment the fate of the Turnal was doom. Darkness stayed its hand as it looked beyond Reish to the other three Factors. They had stepped to be beside her, even though she had acted impetuously and alone. Darkness saw that here was more than it had expected to find in the Turnal heart. They were a people and worthy of its attention and use. Darkness had found another Race to serve it.
