Dirin

Dirin, magic made, magic opposed.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Generally humanoid in structure, though dirin can craft their own shapes, giving them the ability to add additional appendages or unique growths.

Biological Traits

Dirin are constructed by the individual, with an incredibly vast array of growths possible. While most maintain structures similar to other mortals, like humans and elves, dirin are also open to experiment if it means improving their lives.

Genetics and Reproduction

Dirin reproduction could be considered asexual, but it also still requires at least two dirin. Dirin reproduce by imparting part of their essence into a crafted "child" construct, which requires a portion of essence from at least two dirin. This essence draw is considerable, but not generally life threatening on the parents. The two portions of essence will merge into a new soul, its own essence building over the life of the new dirin.

Growth Rate & Stages

Dirin reach adolescence around 30 years of age. It is at this point dirin will start adding more stones to their constructs, building out a shape to match a gender identity and also giving themselves structure. These stones are still fairly small as the natural growing supports, the branches and vines, in the structure grow out. At adulthood, dirin will start adding serious chunks of stone to their structures as they can support themselves.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Largely, dirin consume water and light like plants to nourish their natural compositions. However, some dirin will develop chambers inside their structures based on carnivorous plants to digest meat.

Biological Cycle

Dirin largely aren't affected by seasonal changes, though some dirin will add seasonal flowers or other growths to give the impression of hair and beards.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Dirin construct their mouths and vocal cords at a young age with very slim vines and river rocks that are bound by their primary growing structure. The rest of their faces are made up of larger rocks, with some dirin choosing clay made molds for simpler construction. Some dirin will grow special vines or flowers on their jaws to imitate beards, or on the top of their head to create hair.

Average Intelligence

Sentient

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Dirin are naturally adept with magic due to their composition. They are also completely magic opposed.

Civilization and Culture

Beauty Ideals

Dirin tend to prefer larger, burlier constructions because it demonstrates a strong amount of essence to support it.

Gender Ideals

While dirin do use gender systems, they don't really adhere to any gender roles. The nature of the dirin makes it very hard to focus any kind of gendered system, since identity is extremely fluid and simple to change. Thus, the race never established any serious need for it, which often clashes with the nations they reside in.

Courtship Ideals

Depends on their nationality.

Relationship Ideals

Depends on their nationality, but there is a preference for stronger individuals for making longer lasting relationships.

Common Etiquette Rules

Varies based on nationality.

Common Dress Code

Varies based on nationality, though constructions usually prevent heavy layering.

History

Dirin were created from a sudden magical explosion near the end of Avastaria's reign.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

While dirin can have interspecies relationships, they can't bear children with anyone other than dirin. There are efforts to see if other races can contribute their essence the same way dirin can, though there have been no positive tests conducted.
