Letter from Andran Galanodel to Thrucilia Galanodel
The letter was drafted by Andran Galanodel while based on Sunset Peak with his subset of the Neldorin Army, in response to having received a letter from Meredith Sybellar. Sybellar had written to ask that he put in a good word with his cousin, Thrucilia Galanodel, hoping the queen would help set Sybellar's daughter, Lorelei, up with Kazerath Galanodel. Andran had also recently heard from his brother, Mileas Galanodel, that Kazerath would be traveling with the Neldorin Army to Dawnmoor, and suspected that the young prince was going to attempt a coup. Andran did not want to see Thrucilia deposed, and so sent this letter that began a series of coded letters between them planning to assassinate Kazerath.
The following decoding represents the efforts of Honor, Kismet Luckyfoot and Cacophony in the summer of 1451.
petty-drake - probably a dismissive way to refer to the dragon-blooded prince, Kazerath
flies east - doesn't get much farther east than Dawnmoor
changing season - Midsummer festival
fires of home - elven metaphor for one's lineage
sibilant song of the Green Wood - Meredith Sybellar's maiden name is Greenwood, but also literally the woods in central Neldorin
our flames/stoked by their lumber - both the Greenwoods and Sybellars are important noble families? or maybe that they are threats
peony blossoms - shows up in elven poetry as a metaphor for those who are beautiful but useless Lorelei's really nice! sure, but she's useless
honey bee - this is Lorelei's little sister Lilith's nickname? and she hates it
rob the flower of its nectar - harsh yeah, I knew they didn't get along, but that's... harsh
the outer planes value you and I - typical elven ego I don't disagree, but I think there's more to it than that. maybe they literally believe elves are more important than everyone else? I mean, all of these people they're talking about are half-elves -- Kazerath, Lorelei, Meredith, Lilith
it is only fleeting - sick bastards, but typical they don't make it a secret that they think their long lives make them entitled to more
your tower, nearest to the southern star - the southern tower of the castle tends to have less security; that's where everyone goes to hook up Kismet, who are you hooking up with at work? don't worry about it okay, so you're saying it would be the ideal place to try to kill someone? never thought of it that way before, but yes
lose your birthright/new age of dragons - does Queen Cilia think Kazerath is after her throne? I don't know anything about him, but he couldn't be worse than her I really think power is all she loves, if she thinks he's after it she would definitely want to get rid of him
