The Gods
There are many gods that live amidst the Spirit Realm, each with their own function and influence over the many aspects of the Material Realm. The gods each create and maintain a different aspect of the Material Realm that they are required to maintain for the mortals' needs.
Each god is typically worshipped to some degree by certain groups and factions of mortals, typically by those who directly connect with that deity based on what that god/goddess represents. The gods rely on this worship as the source of their power. Gods that are not worshipped will begin to weaken and eventually fade out of existence. This is one of the ways a god becomes deceased.
The mortals who choose to worship any given deity are given a number of rules and creeds by that god/goddess to outline how they can show their faith. Additionally, the gods have the power to bless those who worship them in a number of ways relating to that god/goddess's specialty. Creatures who adamantly worship the god of farming may see an increase in harvest and growth in their fields.
Most gods/goddesses who decease or fade from existence go to what is known as Krevati de Diathan or "Bed of the Gods." A final resting place for deities that are no longer worshipped or needed, or have been killed in some way. In this realm, they join other gods who have since passed in an eternal celebration as they watch the Spirit and Mortal Realms from afar. It is said that the living gods can even communicate with those who have passed away, though once gone they will have no power or influence over the realms. Few gods have gone to this final resting place. Many who near the end of their existence will make an ultimate sacrifice by denouncing their existence as a sentient being and becoming the very force that they created and maintained. A good example of this is Mageia, the goddess of magic, who gave her life and existence to ensure the creatures on the Material Realm could use her as the magical energy force they made use of. Because of her sacrifice magic energy cannot be consumed or used up.
Although mortals are much less powerful than the gods, their necessary worship brings balance to the two ensuring their is little abuse of power. The gods are also limited by their power to have influence over the aspect of the Material Realm they have been given power over. There are, though, a number of ways a mortal can go about killing a god.
Killing their Worshipers. A creature intent on killing a god can do so by eradicating the church and religious organizations that represent them. This is typically a major step in any of the other options of ending a god's existence as well. By reducing, or depleting, the number of worshipers of a given god/goddess one has effectively reduced them to their weakest state. If they completely eradicate those who worship and devote themselves to that deity, the god will fade from existence.
God-Killer Weapons. These incredibly rare weapons must be created by the gods themselves, imbued with a large portion of magical power. These weapons will sometimes find themselves in the material realm and claimed by creatures there. If found, one simply has to make their way to the Spirit World and challenge the diety to fight. If you can best the god/goddess in a fight you can kill them.
Another Deity. Of course, another god is capable of killing a god. So any creature that can convince a god this level of treason is worthwhile they may have a chance of eradicating the deity they're targeting. It is said that, in this same way, a demigod also may have the power to do this.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The gods/goddesses can take a number of forms and shapes both as their natural forms and also those they can shape into.
Genetics and Reproduction
Although the gods are allowed to mate and bond, they do not reproduce through it. Instead, they have the ability to create demigods using their powers. Sometimes they will collaborate on a demigod based on their combined powers needed to create the desirable demigod for the purpose they're trying to achieve. Or they can create one solely on their own for their own purposes.
Growth Rate & Stages
Gods do not age, and when they were created they were spawned into the form they currently hold.
Ecology and Habitats
The gods live within the Spirit Realm amongst the other gods/goddesses and demigods. They will occasionally visit the material realm in order to communicate with their followers.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Gods do not need to eat or sleep to survive and typically only do so during celebrations.
Additional Information
Social Structure
The gods each have their own realm they maintain such as nature, the sky, the oceans, etc. Other gods may come to them to collaborate on new creations that may be impacted by that god/goddesses realm. The gods will often collaborate on all sorts of creations, changes, and the like through voting amongst themselves.
Average Intelligence
Infinite
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Gods possess seemingly limitless powers within the responsibility they've been gifted with. A god/goddess of nature has the ability to create and change whatever aspects they want within the realm of nature on the material realm.
Civilization and Culture
Common Taboos
There are a number of rules the gods have made over their time creating and running the Material Realm to ensure that no aspect is favored over another and to avoid potential issues along the way.
Gods May Not Mate with Mortals. As has been shown in history, the gods/goddesses are not to mate with mortals due to issues of favoritism and the mortal demigods that are born from it.
Demigods are Not Allowed in the Physical Realm Unless Banished or Given Express Permission from the Council of gods. The Demigods are created by the gods for the purpose of managing small aspects of that god/goddess's creation. They are to remain in the Spirit Realm. Oftentimes, in the past, when demigod visited the Material Realm the mortal creatures there would deviate their worship from the proper god to that of the Demigod whose existence is not maintained by the mortals' worship.
Before Creating Something New Gods Must Bring it Before the Council of Gods. To ensure that one's new creation doesn't harm or negatively affect another god's domain or creations.
History
The first two gods to exist were Fos (the god of light) and Luna (the goddess of dark). Because at the time the concept of time didn't exist, it's impossible to know how long the two warred with each other in the void. They eventually discovered that light and dark could not exist without the other for when one hurled a throw at the other they only seemed to manage to hurt themselves.
After this realization, it wasn't long before the two fell in love and decided to work together to create instead of work against each other in an attempt to destroy. Together they made the first created god: Amser or "Time."
Time was incredibly clever and smart, he helped his parent gods create for him a brother and sister: Zoi the goddess of life whom he created alongside his father, and Maroleth the god of death whom he created with the help of his mother.
From there, the family of gods decided to create a collaborative project and began work on the Material Realm creating the planet as it was. After a lot of experimentation, they knew they would need to create others to help them manage and maintain this world they were making.
Astria, the goddess of the stars took over making the cosmos a beautiful distant land. Yuden the god of water was created to rule over the oceans, seas, rivers, and lakes. He would later go on to create a little brother for himself named Kalastaar the god of fish and other life that lives beneath the waves.
Asieli the goddess of nature who would later go on to make for herself a sister: Kalikasan the goddess of trees and later another sister named Mimi goddess of small plants such as bushes, shrubs, and flowers. Later, once the sentient creatures were created and started to populate the material realm they created a brother Kibu god of farming who taught the creatures how to grow all sorts of edible plants and what they could be used for.
Dom the god below the surface was put in charge of the structure that held the planet together and resided beneath the ground. He created the rocks and minerals that kept the planet from collapsing.
To assist with the creation of the world and the rule-enforcement of the things that would be created the gods pooled together to create Tahika the goddess of magic.
The gods decided it was time to fill their world with something that could be watched and take care of their creations for them. A sentient creature created in their own image. From this idea Tao the god of man was born along with the creation of the first creature on the planet: humans. Shortly after, Threyo the god of beasts was born to be Tao's brother. He created all the non-sentient living creatures on the planet. The brothers were close and eventually created the Drako the god of dragons who was a split between sentience and beast. Drako created the dragons to befriend the humans.
Amidst all of this creation, Maroleth had been working on his own realm separate from that of the other gods. His realm consisted of an absorber of the other gods' creations when it reached its final hours. Within his realm he had taken on an apprentice, a god he created named Damon who would be the god of demons and infernal creatures.

Common Myths and Legends
Curse of the Gods
As the gods continued to create and fill the planet Fos and Luna had started the two gods started to see too much jealousy and rivalry starting to brew between their children. Gods would create things solely to attack the creations of another god and would influence the creatures below to war with the other creatures for the gods' amusement. The two parent gods became furious. After the death of Tao, Fos and Luna decided enough was enough. They placed a curse on all the gods requiring that they be forced to be worshipped by their creations and the creatures on the planet or lose their powers and fade away. This kept the gods from creating without purpose and planning. Fos and Luna were saddened by the curse they had to place on their children and considered that their last acts as gods and relieved themselves of their godly existence becoming the moon and the sun and eternally changing from day to night and day again. The Death of Tao
Tao loved the humans he was placed in charge of more than anything else in existence. He cared for them, taught them how to do things, and blessed them. His brother Threyo, whom he worked with often and was close to, became jealous of him. He saw how the humans praised Tao, and saw that his own creations, the beasts, were unable to offer this praise. He attempted to make the beastfolk that mimicked Tao's creation, but they were drawn to nature and its ways leaving Threyo as devoid as before. He began to go on the offensive, sending his beasts to attack the humans. It wasn't long before he had started a war with his brother, sending all sorts of dangerous beasts onto the planet after his brother's creation. It was to the point that the humans were beginning to go extinct. Tao created the race of Orcs to assist the humans in battle, a monstrous race with strong fighting ability. To counter this, Threyo tricked and drugged his youngest brother Drako with a potion that would make him sleep for a hundred years so that he could take control of the dragons, a fearsome beast that was able to crush the ranks of humans and orcs. To combat the dragons Tao created the Goliaths, a race he thought would be big enough to take on the mighty dragons. Tao turned to his sister Asieli for help and together they made the elven race. To follow suit Threyo snuck into Tao's residence and stole some of his magic to create the race of Goblins who were both animalistic and sentient at the same time. To retaliate Tao inquired the help of Dom and they created the Dwarves. With Kalastaar he created the Tritons. Threyo was furious to see his cousin Kalastaar siding with Tao. Kalastaar wished to remain neutral and so he created sea monsters to fight with the Tritons. Threyo tried to convince Dom to offer him an advantage over the tunneling Dwarves or be considered his enemy and threatened to tear apart the world underground. Dom, in fear, created earthquakes while Threyo created creatures that would burrow to fight the underground fight. Tao turned to Cynyd and together they created the Gnomes, a race that was always creating and bettering. The gnomes created boats that could sail over the waters and sea monsters, and they made machines that could assist the dwarves in structuring the underground. They even made large weapons for use against the dragons and hordes of goblins. It seemed that Tao's creations were finally winning until Tao was approached by Damon, who had come up from the under realm to see why they were taking on so many souls. Damon saw an opportunity to finally be a part of the material realm and offered assistance to his brother Tao. He would help his brother in this war, if Tao worked with him on a creation that would be placed into the material realm. The gods didn't trust anything Maroleth had a hand in and at first Tao refused until Damon returned his rejection with a threat. If Tao wouldn't take his offer he would simply side his army of infernal creatures with Threyo. Seeing the armies from the under realm Tao had no choice but to give in to Damon's demands and together they created the Tieflings. Threyo saw that he was losing and had no one else to turn to in order to twist the tides of battle. That night he snuck inside the bedroom of his brother Tao once more and stabbed him mortally. The next day the other gods found what Threyo had done and were furious. Fos and Luna placed a curse on the other gods to keep wars like this from ever happening again. With the curse of necessary worship and the lack of creatures that could/would offer it, Threyo eventually faded from existence and went to Krevati de Diathan where his brother Tao was waiting for him.Birth of the Dragonborn
After the war, Drako awoke to see what had become to his dragons. They were all but extinct, pawns of his brother's bloodlust. He wept at the state of his creation who assumed he had abandoned them. He was growing weak and feeble from lack of worship and as the last use of his power he created the Dragonborn race as an apology to his brother Tao and the torture his dragons. Awaiting death he was surprised that it would not take him. Looking down he saw that the Dragonborn were giving him praise for their creation. He began to regain his strength and now resides as the god of the Dragonborn, and the few dragons left in existence. The Legend of Tahika
The goddess of magic, Tahika, loved the creatures that dwelt on the planet. She was in love with their cultures, their lives, their traditions, and their ways. She wanted to create something so she could be a part of it. She gifted creatures with the powers of magic and started to teach them how to use it. She was delighted to see how quickly they picked up this skill and were using it. The other gods were furious with Tahika for gifting the creatures below powers that were to be retained only to the gods. To retaliate the other gods created limitations on the sentient creatures' usage of the magical resource, there would only be a limited amount of magical energy gifted to them. When it was used it would be exhausted and used up. Having such a wonderful resource now limited to them and not knowing why the creatures became furious. They stopped worshipping Tahika in thanks for the gift she had given them, additionally they started finding new, darker ways to use their magical gift. Tahika, growing weak from the lack of worshipers and seeing her gift being used for evil sacrificed her being as a god to once again bring back the magical energy to the world which would now only be limited to the individuals who could wield it. She became the magical force that filled the world.
