Demigods & Aasimar

The demigods are a form of lesser gods created by the major gods for specific purposes. For instance, the god of nature will create a number of lesser gods to be put in charge of different aspects of their creation. The demigods have a very limited amount of godly power, enough to handle the particular duty that they were created for but are no less valued by the gods. The gods that created them are considered their parents.   Aasimar is a term for when a god is banished to the material world. They lose a large portion of their godly power and assume a physical form that is no longer immortal like they were when living in the spirit realm.   Aasimar tend to spend their lives as such creatures in one of two ways: 1) They attempt to make right whatever wrong got them banished from the Spirit Realm and try to earn back the favor of the gods. 2) They take pleasure in their new form and location and make the most of their curse. Many of these beings become founders of cults who look up to them as a god in their realm.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Demigods and Aasimar retain a state of always in peak-condition, although Aasimar do have a life expectancy due to being no-longer immortal, they will remain in peak-physical condition until they die.

Genetics and Reproduction

Demigods are said to be capable of procreating additional demigods although it is uncertain if they do this sexually or through psychic bonding with another demigod. It is forbidden by the gods to mate with a demigod.   Once a demigod becomes an Aasimar they are unable to procreate although can engage in sexual intimacy with other creatures.

Growth Rate & Stages

A demigod is born into peak adult form and will remain that way for eternity as they are immortal within the spirit realm.   Aasimar, although able to die and have a lifespan of up to 1,000 years, will retain their peak physical form until their demise comes.

Ecology and Habitats

Demigod are limited to the Spirit Realm unless banished in which case they are cast into the material realm as Aasimar.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Demigods don't need to eat and drink and only do so for the taste of the wonderful food available to them in the Spirit Realm. It doesn't provide nourishment and will not affect their bodies in any way, but is used as a means of enjoyment typically during celebrations.   Aasimar, although they do need food and nourishment given that they are mortal beings, are in no other way affected by their diet. Although they can taste and appreciate food, it is no more than fuel for them. Their physical build will not be affected by over or under-eating. They will, however, become weak and exhausted from lack of food. Additionally, they are prone to poisons and food poisoning.

Biological Cycle

The powers of a particular demigod will often change based on a variety of conditions relating to their purpose as determined by the god that created them.   Demigods of plant growth will see their powers wane in the winter seasons, and grow in the spring. Demigods of darkness will see their powers rise at night, and fall during the day.

Additional Information

Social Structure

The Demigods are considered to be children of the gods, created for a specific purpose and area to manage. Although they are welcomed to interact with the gods, they are not considered on a level higher than their creators.   The demigods are allowed to mate with each other, but never with the gods. They are also confined to the Spirit Realm and typically don't interact with the mortal creatures of the Material Realm directly although it is not forbidden to mate with the mortals who visit the Spirit Realm.   The Aasimar are banished version of the demigods, trapped on the material realm to live the lives of mortals. They are still allowed to communicate with the gods, just as the mortals are, through prayer and meditation. Based on their chosen lifestyle on the Material Realm, they typically have a higher chance of direct communication with one of the gods.
