Krautalisk

A krautalisk is a terrifying sight, with its giant, gaunt body, strong, muscular tail and the huge, scythe-like claws on its forearms, they are truly worthy of the title 'Leviathans in the Dusk', the rough translation of their urkali name. They are omnivorous, but highly aggressive, and will attack herds of thycrids, even daring to take on particularly weak looking or young luxon.
Krautalisks have an interesting and diverse sociology; when young, they are only around 1 foot tall, and they group together in pods of 12-24, including the children of many different parents, where they primarily eat plant matter and fungi, relying on their numbers for protection; when they grow to adolescence, (takes about one year) they reach about 8 feet tall and split off into a mating couple, where they will hunt, bond and mate together, birthing around 2-4 large batches of eggs in their lifetime, into hutches along with several other couples.
A couple will stay together for the rest of their lives, growing to truly gargantuan sizes ranging between 16-17ft tall, staying close together until their eventual deaths.
The name 'Krautalisk' is the Urkali name for the creatures, adopted by many as the standard term, however, they are also sometimes referred to as Reavers.
