The Crow Flies Bannerman

With rank comes privilege – this is something that the people of The Crow Flies know all too well. As a Bannerman in this feudal land, you know what it means to serve, as your House has sworn fealty to one of the three Liege Houses of The Crow Flies (Grenforth, Rookwood or Bronn). This fealty has granted you privileges that the serfs can only dream of, and the agency to pursue crafts of your choosing. But it comes with a price – your House is beholden to your Liege Lord, and their word is law. Do you hold unwavering loyalty to your Liege Lord, or have recent events forced you to question it? Have you been sent away on a diplomatic or covert mission? Are you a young lord-in-waiting, sent to see more of the world as part of your training? Or were you the black sheep of your House, sent away just to keep you out of the way of family matters? With this background, you can choose one of the many Houses that serve a Liege House, or you may wish to create your own. There is more information about the Liege Houses under nation details of The Crow Flies.   Skill Proficiencies: History, Persuasion   Tool Proficiencies: one type of musical instrument, one type of Artisan’s tools   Equipment: a symbol of your House, which will adorn an item of clothing and a weapon or shield of your choosing, a signet ring with the symbol of your Liege Lord’s House, a set of fine clothes, a musical instrument, and a coin purse containing 25gp.   Feature: Retinue – your station grants you the services of one member of retinue. This could be a butler, minstrel, advisor, squire, guard or any other within reason (discuss a suitable role with your DM). They will accompany you on your travels, and perform small tasks on request. Non-combat servants will follower the Commoner stats (Monster Manual p345), with Guard stats (p347) for combat servants.   Variant: The Crow Flies Subject – instead of being member of a House loyal to a Liege House, you are a member of one of the Liege Houses themselves. Whether by birth, adoption or service, you are member of one of House Grenforth, Rookwood or Bronn. Were you born into this Liege House, or were you adopted into it for your services? Did you always have a charmed life, or did you have humble beginnings? You may even be a high-ranking member of the city, a guard captain, advisor or person of influence. Discuss with your DM how this person would fit into the society of The Crow Flies.   NOTE: In addition to your other features, your station can grant you audience with other influential people throughout The Manylands, should you choose it.
