Illuskan

Illuskan was the name usually given to Humans who lived in the Sword Coast North. They were also known as Northlanders. Illuskans made up the bulk of the population in the following areas:   The Sword Coast North   The Trackless Sea   The Dessarin river valley   The Uthgardt tribes

Naming Traditions

Family names

Common Illuskan surnames included Brightwood, Helder, Hornraven, Lackman, Stonar, Stormwind, and Winddrivver. Common male names included Ander, Blath, Bran, Frath, Geth, Lander, Luth, Malcer, Stor, Taman, and Urth. Common female names were Amafrey, Betha, Cefrey, Kethra, Mara, Olga, Silifrey, and Westra.

Major language groups and dialects

There were three major dialects of Illuskan. Moonshae was spoken by the Ffolk and the Northlanders of the Moonshae Isles. Ruathen was spoken in Ruathym, and True Luskan was the dialect of the city-state of Luskan. Bothii, the language of the Uthgardt, was treated by some as a dialect of Illuskan.

Culture and cultural heritage

The Northlanders originated in the island of Ruathym. The island was thought of as their ancestral home, from where they spread into other islands in the Sea of Swords and into the continent following the founding of the city of Luskan.
